Many People Think the Kutis Use Drugs, But It’s Not True – Made Kuti
Afrobeats singer Made Kuti has dismissed the long-standing belief that members of the Kuti family are involved in drug use, describing it as a misconception.
Speaking on the sidelines of the United States Mission’s 250th Independence Day celebration held in Lagos, Made said many people wrongly assume that he and other members of his family use narcotics.
According to the singer, he does not smoke, adding that his father has also quit smoking.
He explained that while the Kuti family is often associated with drug use, the assumption does not reflect the reality for most of its members.
“A lot of people think I smoke, but I don’t, and even my dad has quit. So, there is a big misconception that the family are all into narcotics and drugs, but most of us are not,” he said.
Made also described himself as a hardworking, loyal and passionate person, joking that his loyalty is easy to explain because he is a married man.
“I am hardworking, loyal and passionate. I’m a married man,” he added.
When asked which Nigerian musician he currently enjoys listening to the most, Made said he prefers listening to his grandfather’s music.
The singer also urged Nigerians not to overlook climate change, stressing that although the country faces serious economic and cultural challenges, environmental issues also deserve urgent attention.
“I think honestly we are very aware of the cultural issues we are facing and the economic issues we are facing, but something very important I will say is climate change,” he stated.

How My Husband Reacted To My Bigger Paycheck – Blessing Obasi
Nollywood actress Blessing Obasi has shared how her husband, actor Stan Nze, reacted after she landed a movie role that paid her significantly more than he was earning at the time.
Speaking during an interview with Morayo Afolabi Brown on YouTube, Blessing recalled that in 2017, she was offered ₦600,000 for a role in the movie Castle and Castle. She described the offer as a major breakthrough and said she was excited to share the news with Stan, who was still her boyfriend then.
According to Blessing, Stan did not feel threatened by her success despite the fact that his highest movie paycheck at the time was ₦100,000. Instead, he celebrated her achievement, held her hands, prayed for her sincerely, and encouraged her.
She said Stan told her that she was destined for greatness and assured her that the opportunity was only the beginning of bigger things to come.
Blessing praised her husband’s support, saying his reaction showed genuine love, confidence, and belief in her success rather than jealousy or insecurity.
She said:
“In 2017, the owners of Castle and Castle offered me ₦600,000 as my pay, and I was so excited.
“When I told my husband, who was still my boyfriend at the time, he looked at me, held my hands, prayed for me and told me I am a star and this is just the beginning.
“My husband’s highest pay at that time for a role was ₦100,000, and I was going to earn more than him, but he prayed for me from his heart and reminded me how great I am.”

Funnybone Says Being Born Again Doesn’t Automatically Heal Childhood Trauma
Nigerian comedian and actor Chibunna Stanley, popularly known as Funnybone, has sparked conversations online after sharing his thoughts on faith, trauma and emotional healing.
In a post on his Instagram page, Funnybone said becoming born again does not automatically erase childhood trauma or behavioural issues. He urged churches to pay more attention to mental and emotional well-being alongside spiritual growth.
According to him, many Christians focus on avoiding sins such as substance abuse or sexual immorality while ignoring emotional wounds that continue to affect their behaviour and relationships.
He wrote:
“I hope that one day the church understands that some personality traits have nothing to do with spirituality, and that being ‘born again’ doesn’t erase childhood trauma or behavioural dysfunction.”
Funnybone explained that unresolved trauma can shape how people think, react and interact with others, even after becoming Christians.
He added that some of the most difficult personalities he has encountered identify as born-again Christians, stressing that spiritual rebirth should not be seen as a replacement for emotional healing.
The comedian also encouraged believers to seek professional help when needed, saying therapy, religion and spirituality can work together.
“The heart can still be deeply wounded, bitter, or unkind because unresolved trauma often shapes subconscious reactions,” he added.
His comments have generated mixed reactions on social media.
While many agreed with his view and praised him for raising awareness about mental health in religious communities, others argued that the Holy Spirit plays a key role in healing emotional and behavioural struggles.
One social media user said being born again marks the beginning of a healing journey, with the Holy Spirit helping believers overcome anger and other negative traits. Another user argued that many Christians fail to experience true transformation because they focus more on miracles than building a deeper relationship with God through studying the Bible.
The discussion continues online as many debate the relationship between faith, emotional healing and professional mental health support.
