NDC: Tinubu doesn’t have anything to campaign with in Bayelsa
The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) has chided President Bola Tinubu for including Bayelsa as one of the states he may not visit during the campaign, saying the president and his All Progressives Congress (APC) lack what to campaign with in the state.
The Bayelsa State Publicity Secretary of NDC, Prince Mac-Ake, stated this while speaking with journalists in Yenagoa, the state capital.
He said the president and his party already knew that NDC is more grounded in the state and its presidential candidate, Peter Obi, and other candidates will win the state resoundingly during the 2027 polls.

NDC also accused APC-led Federal Government of marginalising Bayelsa State, citing concerns over the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway project and the reported exclusion of the state from President Bola Tinubu’s campaign itinerary.
Mac-Eke explained that NDC has adopted a different campaign strategy ahead of the 2027 general elections, focusing on direct engagement with voters, grassroots mobilisation and public communication rather than relying exclusively on large political rallies.
He stated that the NDC, as an opposition party, was pursuing a campaign approach that encouraged candidates to interact directly with citizens and understand their concerns.
According to him, the party’s candidates were already engaging voters across senatorial districts, federal constituencies and state constituencies, while plans were underway for more visible campaign activities.
He said the party’s national leadership had indicated that its presidential campaign council would be inaugurated on October 21.
He also raised concerns about alleged vote-buying practices, urging voters to reject electoral inducements and assess candidates based on their records, credibility and policy proposals.
He said: “When you talked about the president not visiting Bayelsa state for campaign, emergence of our presidential candidate, Peter Obi has already started putting fear into the APC-led administration, because they know that the Obi and NDC stand for organic support.
“As it stands today, the story of 2023 is different, Obi now has structures, and the structure is NDC. We have organic supporters, so there is fear in Tinubu and APC, that is why he can”t come to campaign in Bayelsa.
“Secondly, I will say, for President Tinubu not to come to Bayelsa for campaign, he is clearly undermining the people of Bayelsa state, that we are not worthy of his presence. He is directly telling the electorates here that he should not be given the second chance.
“We have a man that will change the narrative, Peter Obi, is a man that Nigerians will trust with their votes come January 16, 2027, and will change the fortune of this country for good,” he said.
