Not Every Artiste I Sign Will Become Global, Music Business Is Risky – Don Jazzy
Nigerian music executive Michael Collins Ajereh, popularly known as Don Jazzy, has said that signing an artiste to his record label does not guarantee international success or huge financial returns.
The Mavin Records boss made this known during a recent livestream with popular forex trader Habby Forex, where he discussed the risks associated with the music industry and foreign exchange trading.
According to Don Jazzy, the music business involves uncertainties, although he considers it less volatile than the forex market.

He explained that not every artiste signed to Mavin Records would achieve global recognition or generate significant profits for the label.
“The forex market is just something I do for fun. Music still takes most of my time, and my other businesses are not as volatile and risky as the forex market. But not every artist I signed will become global. Just like in trading, there is risk in the music business, too,” he said.
Don Jazzy added that Mavin Records does not measure an artiste’s success solely by international recognition or financial returns. Instead, the label also considers personal and professional growth.
“But to us, as long as you are better today than yesterday as an artist, you are a success,” he stated.
In a related development, Don Jazzy recently described his decision to part ways with former Mavin Records artiste Di’ja as one of the most difficult moments of his career.
Speaking during an episode of the Crea8torium podcast, the music executive recalled that the situation was emotional and that Di’ja noticed his discomfort over her departure.
He explained that the decision was difficult because he regards the artistes signed to his label as his children.
