NPFL: Dare backs Enyimba rebuild after exit of key players

Enyimba goalkeeper Dede Dare has expressed confidence that the club can still enjoy a successful season despite the departure of several key players.

The People’s Elephant lost most of their important players at the end of last season, leaving the club with the task of rebuilding its squad ahead of the new NPFL campaign.

The nine-time Nigeria Premier Football League champions responded by bringing in new players to fill the gaps left by those who departed during the transfer window.

Dare believes the rebuilding process can be successful, but insists the club needs players who are ready to work hard and contribute willingly to the team.

“I’ve said it before, if you have to force them to carry the bricks, they’re not the ones to build with,” Dare was quoted as saying by the club’s media.

“Simple as that, we move on with the ones who want to be here.”

Enyimba, however, made a disappointing start to the new NPFL season after suffering a 2-1 defeat to Niger Tornadoes in their opening fixture.
