Osun Election: CSOs Praise NSCDC Personnel for Professionalism, Discipline

A coalition of civil society organisations (CSOs) has commended the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) for the professional conduct, restraint and impartiality demonstrated by its personnel during the Osun State governorship election.

The coalition, led by the National President of STAND UP NIGERIA, Comrade Sunny Attah, gave the commendation on Saturday after monitoring the conduct of the election across the state’s 30 local government areas.

Attah said the NSCDC personnel deployed for the election demonstrated a high level of professionalism and discipline in carrying out their responsibilities before, during and after the poll.

According to him, the conduct of the officers contributed significantly to the maintenance of peace and order and created a conducive environment for voters, electoral officials, political parties and other stakeholders to participate in the electoral process.

He particularly attributed the development to the training and discipline of personnel under the leadership of the NSCDC Commandant-General, Dr Ahmed Abubakar Audi, OFR, mni.

Attah said the leadership’s emphasis on professional training, discipline and restraint had positively impacted the conduct of NSCDC officers deployed across Osun State.

“We observed the conduct of the NSCDC personnel across the 30 local government areas of Osun State, and we are impressed by their professionalism, restraint and commitment to maintaining peace.

“The training and discipline of personnel under the Commandant-General, Dr Ahmed Abubakar Audi, have clearly reflected in the way the officers conducted themselves during this election,” he said.

The coalition noted that the visible presence of security personnel at polling units and other strategic locations helped to deter potential disturbances and reassure voters during the exercise.

It also stressed the importance of professionalism and neutrality by security agencies in strengthening public confidence in Nigeria’s electoral process.

The CSOs urged the NSCDC to sustain the standard and continue investing in personnel training, discipline and public-oriented security operations, particularly during future elections.

They also called on political parties, candidates, supporters and other stakeholders to support security agencies by respecting the law and promoting peaceful democratic participation.

The coalition further urged other security agencies to maintain similar standards of professionalism, restraint and respect for citizens’ rights in future electoral assignments.
