Peller Granted ₦500,000 Bail After Arraignment For Threatening Police Officers
TikTok content creator Habeeb Hamzat, popularly known as Peller, and his associate, Bello Oladipo, have been granted ₦500,000 bail by a Lagos Magistrate Court after they were arraigned over allegations of obstructing police officers during an operation.
The duo pleaded not guilty to the charges filed against them by the Lagos State Police Command.
The court granted them bail on the condition that they provide two sureties, one of whom must be a blood relative.
They were also ordered to submit their tax clearance documents for the past two years before meeting the bail conditions.
The case was adjourned until August 11 for further hearing.
According to reports, the charges stem from an incident that occurred on July 2 along the Coastal Road in Lekki, Lagos, where police officers allegedly stopped Peller for driving a vehicle without number plates.
Peller reportedly told the officers that the vehicle was newly purchased, but they insisted that he accompany them to the police station.
The situation reportedly became tense after the TikTok star began recording the encounter with his phone.
Peller later accused the officers of behaving aggressively during the incident, while the police denied the allegation and subsequently charged him and his associate.
The two are facing charges of resisting police officers, obstructing officers from carrying out their lawful duties, and engaging in conduct likely to cause a breach of public peace.
