Pete Edochie Mourns Alexx Ekubo, Says He Had Planned His 80th Birthday Celebration
Veteran Nollywood actor Pete Edochie has paid tribute to the late actor Alexx Ekubo, describing him as a vibrant and kind-hearted person who made a lasting impact on the Nigerian movie industry.
Speaking in an interview with PM News, Edochie reflected on the memories they shared and the plans Ekubo had made before his passing.
The veteran actor said he only met Alexx Ekubo three times, but each encounter left a lasting impression because of the late actor’s cheerful personality.
Recalling one of their meetings, Edochie said Ekubo visited him at his hotel with a cow and a group of Ogene drummers to invite him to an event.
He also revealed that the late actor had discussed plans to organize a grand celebration for his 80th birthday next year, a dream that will no longer come to pass.
Edochie also praised actor IK Ogbonna for standing by Alexx Ekubo throughout his life and even after his death, describing him as a loyal friend.
He said:
“Alexx Ekubo came, he saw, and he left an indelible impression. I met him three times. On the first occasion, he arrived at my hotel with a big cow and a group of Ogene drummers to invite me to an event.
“I was told he had big plans for my 80th birthday celebration next year, but unfortunately, he is gone.
“IK Ogbonna proved himself a true friend, both in life and in death.”
