PLANNED PROTEST FOR 20TH OCTOBER IN ABUJA: ENOUGH OF THE RASCALITY AND IMPUNITY OF OMOYELE SOWORE
The Arewa Voters Assembly (AVA) is a platform of Democrats, for the promotion and deepening of the roots and tentacles of the nation’s ongoing democracy and representative government.
Actively present in the nineteen states of the North and the Federal Capital Territory of Abuja, we are however also on ground in the other states of the country.
Today, we want to speak on the emerging real threats, by various forces, to the peace, stability and unity of our motherland, Nigeria.
Specially however, we want to pertinently and vehemently speak in unequivocal language to all enemies of the country who have overtly and surreptitiously been working to reverse the appreciable mileage that Nigerians have strenuously struggled to cover in entrenching democracy and representative governance in the country, especially the gains so far achieved by the Bola Ahmed Tinubu-led administration.
In this regard, we are pointedly and clearly speaking to OMOYELE SOWORE with the message: ENOUGH IS ENOUGH! In tune with the mood of most rational and patriotic Nigerians, we are hereby warning Sowore that we can no longer put up with his serial acts of rascality that threaten the very foundation of the corporate existence of the country and his unguarded utterances and statements against state institutions and statesmen, very unbecoming of a child brought up from a good home with parents.
After a prolonged and painstaking observation and analysis, we have cause to believe that:
- Omoyele Sowore is an unpatriotic quisling who has been masquerading in the guise of a “human rights and democracy activist.” This posturing is a facade behind which he has been carrying out his treacherous and treasonable offences and actions against the Nigerian state and institutions for a few years now, masquerading under the so-called garb to blackmail and commit atrocious activities that are very inhuman.
- Sowore is a hired destabilization agent in the service of foreign forces and interests that have been scheming over the years to disintegrate Nigeria by igniting the fire of ethnic, regional and religious conflagration and inclinations. They have found an ally in Sowore, who does not have the fear of God in him and is never patriotic to the cause and aspirations of the Nigerian state, and who will do anything to bring the country to its knees in order to satisfy his selfish, delusional behavior and character traits of a failed childhood not brought up from a good parentage and family life.
- Since the inception of the Fourth Republic in 1999, it has long become obvious to us in the Arewa Voters Assembly, and to discerning Nigerians and certainly to every patriotic observer, that several shadowy forces have been at work in efforts to scuttle the trajectory of our hard-won democracy, to which Sowore has lent his life and service as a traitor and fifth columnist of the first order and an enemy of the state.
Besides the misguided religious perverts, the ethnic and regional irredentists as well as the armed bandits who have been rampaging and causing mayhem across the nation, certain individuals have also been among the unconscionable elements working for external powers and sponsors with the objective of destabilising Nigeria. It is crystal clear that the boisterous and cantankerous Omoyele Sowore is one of such traitors to the country’s course in achieving our collective aspirations that we can all be proud of. - By his actions and utterances ever since he forayed into the publishing of his online platform and the political arena, Sowore has been consistently provocative, vulgar, uncouth and lawless. He has a habit of instigating violence, chaos, anarchy and conflicts between communities, parties, individuals and regions by always whipping up divisive sentiments along the nation’s fault lines.
His latest antics, woven around the trial and detention of Nnamdi Kanu, vividly illustrate the character of Sowore as an opportunistic interloper and renegade spent force who goes on scavenging expeditions for the slightest chance and opportunity, however senseless, of plying his vocation of a rabble-rouser and an enemy of the Nigerian nationhood. - It is obvious to us in the Arewa Voters Assembly (AVA) that Sowore’s recent penchant for hauling disparaging verbal attacks, dissolute, crude and odious invectives at the administration and person of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, is a deliberate strategy aimed at arousing the disaffection of the citizens towards their democratically elected political leadership and to cast aspersions on our hard-fought democracy that is thriving in leaps and bounds to the detriment of the undertaker’s principals and sponsors, who are daily licking their wounds because Nigeria is indeed moving towards the right direction under the present dispensation.
OUR DEMANDS:
On the basis of the foregoing, the Arewa Voters Assembly (AVA) is making the following demands and pronouncements:
- We have had enough of the narcissistic and egocentric vituperations of Omoyele Sowore, who is nothing but a fake, misguided and crooked personality on a rascally mission of narrow self-aggrandizement and selfish delusional ambition.
- We are calling on the youths of the country, particularly those of the Southeast, to be wary of the antics and deceptions of Sowore and his cohorts. They should take a closer and critical look at the self-styled “Comrade” who claims to be a ‘revolutionary’ and is purportedly fighting for the masses, and look beyond his charade that he is indeed a sheep in a wolf’s garb; a stooge used by the enemies of democracy to thwart the gains so far garnered since President Bola Ahmed Tinubu took the mantle of leadership and is steering the ship of State to change the trajectory of Africa’s most populous black nation to prominence in global reckoning.
It should be noted that while he is calling out our youngsters to come out to the streets on protests, thereby exposing them to the risks of arrest, detentions or worse, his own children are attending Dwight Englewood, one of the most exclusive schools in the USA, and his wife and other family members are enjoying exclusive, cozy lifestyles of opulence and security in New Jersey, USA, which is not commensurate with his lifestyle and earnings in the country. This leaves a sour taste in the mouth that he is really a wolf, a con man and a blackmailer. What a cold-blooded, mindless, malicious, barefaced liar; an unscrupulous, manipulating hypocrite! - We are calling on the nation’s security agencies—the police, the DSS, NIA and others—to, as a matter of urgent national security exigency, go for the scum and threat to the nation in the person of Omoyele Sowore. He should be particularly questioned on his recent claims that “the results of the 2027 elections have already been written.”
On our part, the Arewa Voters Assembly is, for emphasis, vehemently and unequivocally reiterating its position that the Sowore’s planned so-called “Free Nnamdi Kanu” protest slated for the 20th of October, 2025, in Abuja, WILL NOT HOLD! We are very emphatic because that will be his last!
The Assembly has mobilised 60,000 of its members from the states to converge on the FCT in the days leading to the D-Day as a counterforce. We will chase and hunt for any miscreants seen on that day on the streets of Abuja in the name of protest. It is our fervent prayer that Sowore will not test our resolve.
On the intelligence we got that architects of the so-called peaceful protest plan to disrupt business activities at the Wuse market, we have promptly called on our members at the market to link up with other traders to jointly come out to resist the anarchists.
On a final note, the Arewa Voters Assembly (AVA) wishes to make it very clear that its position on Sowore’s planned protest should not be misconstrued to mean that we are against the person of Nnamdi Kanu. As democrats, our position is based on our ardent belief in the principles of the rule of law. Neither VIOLENCE, BLACKMAIL NOR GRANDSTANDING should prevail in the resolution of conflicts and dialogue.
While we are also not averse to the suggestion from certain quarters for “a political solution” to the situation, we insist however that justice, due process, equity and fair play should take precedence over sentiments. In this context, we want Nigerians to discard the pedestrian ranting of bigots, hypocrites, agent provocateurs and mischief makers who are whipping up regional, ethnic and religious emotions and sentiments with heinous ulterior and ignoble selfish motives to push their narrative against the Nigerian state.
We insist that the freedom or otherwise of Nnamdi Kanu should follow due judicial process. Let him go through his trial that is now ongoing in the court of law and face the outcome at the end of the day.
As much as we are not against justice for Kanu, we are also not unmindful of his violent activities, those of his lieutenants and foot soldiers that resulted in multitudes of deaths, various forms of physical disabilities and massive economic ruination in the Southeast. We believe that the victims of these wanton atrocities also deserve retribution and justice. We should not allow Nigeria to be turned into a banana republic where anarchy and lawlessness are the order of the day.
Long live one United, Peaceful Nigeria, Long live democracy

New Petrol Import Permits May Reverse Nigeria’s Push for Domestic Refining and Increase Pressure on Foreign Reserve” — Energy Policy Group Tells President Tinubu
An energy policy group has advised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to reconsider the wider economic consequences of newly issued permits allowing marketers to import petrol into the country, warning that the move could undermine Nigeria’s efforts to strengthen domestic refining and stabilise the economy.
In a statement released on Sunday in Abuja, the Energy Transparency and Market Justice Initiative (ETMJI) said the approvals granted by the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA) could produce unintended consequences if not carefully managed.
The group’s president, Dr. Salako Kareem, said Nigeria was at a delicate moment in its energy transition and that policy choices made now would determine whether the country finally escapes its decades-long dependence on imported refined petroleum products.
Kareem said while the regulator’s responsibility to guarantee adequate fuel supply is understood, expanding import permissions at this stage could weaken the policy direction required to encourage local production and long-term sector stability.
“Our respectful appeal to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is that decisions concerning petrol importation must be carefully weighed against their long-term economic consequences,” Kareem said.
“Nigeria has spent decades trying to overcome the paradox of being a major crude oil producer while relying heavily on imported refined products. Any policy action that appears to reopen the floodgates of importation may slow down the progress that has been made toward strengthening domestic refining capacity.”
He warned that increasing petrol imports could place additional pressure on the country’s foreign exchange reserves, especially at a time when the government is pursuing difficult economic reforms aimed at stabilising the naira and improving fiscal discipline.
“For many years, the country has lost enormous volumes of foreign exchange importing petroleum products that could ideally be refined locally,” Kareem said.
“If import volumes begin to rise again, the demand for foreign currency will inevitably grow. This could place renewed strain on the naira and undermine the broader economic stabilisation programme that the government is currently pursuing.”
The group also warned that excessive reliance on imported petrol could create opportunities for product dumping and the entry of substandard fuel into the Nigerian market, a challenge that has troubled regulators and consumers in the past.
According to Kareem, Nigeria’s downstream sector has historically struggled with quality control issues whenever importation becomes widespread, because imported fuel often travels through multiple intermediaries before reaching domestic depots.
“One of the lessons from the past is that when imports dominate the supply chain, the market sometimes becomes vulnerable to the dumping of inferior petroleum products,” he said.
“This not only creates regulatory complications but also exposes Nigerian consumers to fuels that may damage vehicles, affect industrial machinery and ultimately impose hidden economic costs on the country.”
He added that encouraging domestic refining and strengthening local supply chains would provide better product traceability and improve overall market transparency.
Kareem stressed that the group’s intervention was not intended as criticism of the NMDPRA, noting that regulators must often make complex decisions to prevent supply disruptions in a volatile energy market.
However, he urged the federal government to ensure that short-term supply management does not weaken long-term national objectives in the petroleum sector.
“We recognise that the regulator has the responsibility to ensure that Nigerians do not experience fuel shortages, and that duty is extremely important,” he said.
“But at the same time, policy coherence is essential. The country must avoid sending signals that could discourage investment in local refining or create uncertainty about Nigeria’s commitment to energy self-sufficiency.”
Kareem said Nigeria now has a rare opportunity to restructure its downstream petroleum industry in a way that strengthens domestic production, protects foreign exchange reserves and builds long-term industrial capacity.
He urged the president to ensure that the country’s regulatory framework reflects that strategic vision.
“Our appeal is simply for policy alignment. If Nigeria truly wants to build a resilient energy economy, then every major decision in the downstream sector must reinforce the goal of reducing import dependence, strengthening domestic production and protecting the country’s economic stability,” Kareem noted.
The group added that careful policy coordination between regulators and the presidency would help ensure that Nigeria avoids repeating the costly fuel import cycles that have historically drained public resources and weakened the national economy.

OKL Launches Free Digital Skills Scholarships for 1,000 Lagos Central Youths, Pledges New Approach to Leadership
Olumide Kola-Lawal (OKL), an aspirant for the Lagos Central Senatorial seat, has launched a major youth empowerment initiative that will provide free enrolment and 100 percent scholarships to 1,000 young people across the district for internationally relevant Information Technology and Vocational (ITV) courses.
The initiative was announced on March 11 during a Ramadan lecture themed “Ramadan and the Role of Youths in Building a Moral and United Society,” organized by the National Youth Council of Nigeria, Surulere branch, at the Senator Oluremi Tinubu Hall.
Speaking as the special guest of the event, Kola-Lawal used the platform to outline what he described as a new model of politics centered on opportunity creation, innovation, and people-driven solutions.
“My priority is connecting the grassroots to global opportunities for young people and entrepreneurs,” he said. “I remain confident that bold, people-centered ideas can still drive meaningful change.”
Building Pathways from Lagos to the Global Economy
The scholarship scheme, which represents the first phase of a broader youth development strategy, will train participants in high-demand digital skills in partnership with the London Til Career Institute, an international career and professional development institution focused on career acceleration, innovation, and smart school technology.
Participants will receive training and certification in areas such as:
- Software development
- UI/UX design
- Data analysis
- Cybersecurity
- Digital marketing
- Photo and media editing
The program is designed not only to equip young people with employable skills but also to create sustainable income opportunities and foster entrepreneurship within Lagos Central.
A Different Kind of Political Vision
Kola-Lawal, a globally exposed professional, emphasized that his approach to public service will focus on leveraging international networks and private-sector partnerships to create real economic pathways for constituents.
According to him, the initiative reflects a belief that leadership must move beyond campaign promises to deliver practical, scalable solutions for youth employment and innovation.
By equipping young residents with globally relevant digital skills, he said the program could produce a multiplier effect across the local economy, increasing earnings potential and supporting new business creation throughout Lagos State.
Youth at the Center of Development
Addressing the audience of young participants and community leaders, Kola-Lawal noted that the future of Lagos depends heavily on empowering its youth population with the right tools for the modern economy.
He said the scholarship initiative is intended to bridge the opportunity gap between local talent and global digital markets, positioning Lagos Central as a hub of innovation and entrepreneurial activity.
For many attendees at the event, the announcement signaled what supporters describe as a forward-looking and solutions-driven style of leadership—one that blends global exposure with grassroots engagement.
As the political landscape ahead of the next electoral cycle begins to take shape, Kola-Lawal’s initiative is likely to resonate with a growing constituency of young voters seeking practical opportunities rather than traditional political rhetoric.
