PLANNED PROTEST FOR 20TH OCTOBER IN ABUJA: ENOUGH OF THE RASCALITY AND IMPUNITY OF OMOYELE SOWORE
The Arewa Voters Assembly (AVA) is a platform of Democrats, for the promotion and deepening of the roots and tentacles of the nation’s ongoing democracy and representative government.
Actively present in the nineteen states of the North and the Federal Capital Territory of Abuja, we are however also on ground in the other states of the country.
Today, we want to speak on the emerging real threats, by various forces, to the peace, stability and unity of our motherland, Nigeria.
Specially however, we want to pertinently and vehemently speak in unequivocal language to all enemies of the country who have overtly and surreptitiously been working to reverse the appreciable mileage that Nigerians have strenuously struggled to cover in entrenching democracy and representative governance in the country, especially the gains so far achieved by the Bola Ahmed Tinubu-led administration.
In this regard, we are pointedly and clearly speaking to OMOYELE SOWORE with the message: ENOUGH IS ENOUGH! In tune with the mood of most rational and patriotic Nigerians, we are hereby warning Sowore that we can no longer put up with his serial acts of rascality that threaten the very foundation of the corporate existence of the country and his unguarded utterances and statements against state institutions and statesmen, very unbecoming of a child brought up from a good home with parents.
After a prolonged and painstaking observation and analysis, we have cause to believe that:
- Omoyele Sowore is an unpatriotic quisling who has been masquerading in the guise of a “human rights and democracy activist.” This posturing is a facade behind which he has been carrying out his treacherous and treasonable offences and actions against the Nigerian state and institutions for a few years now, masquerading under the so-called garb to blackmail and commit atrocious activities that are very inhuman.
- Sowore is a hired destabilization agent in the service of foreign forces and interests that have been scheming over the years to disintegrate Nigeria by igniting the fire of ethnic, regional and religious conflagration and inclinations. They have found an ally in Sowore, who does not have the fear of God in him and is never patriotic to the cause and aspirations of the Nigerian state, and who will do anything to bring the country to its knees in order to satisfy his selfish, delusional behavior and character traits of a failed childhood not brought up from a good parentage and family life.
- Since the inception of the Fourth Republic in 1999, it has long become obvious to us in the Arewa Voters Assembly, and to discerning Nigerians and certainly to every patriotic observer, that several shadowy forces have been at work in efforts to scuttle the trajectory of our hard-won democracy, to which Sowore has lent his life and service as a traitor and fifth columnist of the first order and an enemy of the state.
Besides the misguided religious perverts, the ethnic and regional irredentists as well as the armed bandits who have been rampaging and causing mayhem across the nation, certain individuals have also been among the unconscionable elements working for external powers and sponsors with the objective of destabilising Nigeria. It is crystal clear that the boisterous and cantankerous Omoyele Sowore is one of such traitors to the country’s course in achieving our collective aspirations that we can all be proud of. - By his actions and utterances ever since he forayed into the publishing of his online platform and the political arena, Sowore has been consistently provocative, vulgar, uncouth and lawless. He has a habit of instigating violence, chaos, anarchy and conflicts between communities, parties, individuals and regions by always whipping up divisive sentiments along the nation’s fault lines.
His latest antics, woven around the trial and detention of Nnamdi Kanu, vividly illustrate the character of Sowore as an opportunistic interloper and renegade spent force who goes on scavenging expeditions for the slightest chance and opportunity, however senseless, of plying his vocation of a rabble-rouser and an enemy of the Nigerian nationhood. - It is obvious to us in the Arewa Voters Assembly (AVA) that Sowore’s recent penchant for hauling disparaging verbal attacks, dissolute, crude and odious invectives at the administration and person of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, is a deliberate strategy aimed at arousing the disaffection of the citizens towards their democratically elected political leadership and to cast aspersions on our hard-fought democracy that is thriving in leaps and bounds to the detriment of the undertaker’s principals and sponsors, who are daily licking their wounds because Nigeria is indeed moving towards the right direction under the present dispensation.
OUR DEMANDS:
On the basis of the foregoing, the Arewa Voters Assembly (AVA) is making the following demands and pronouncements:
- We have had enough of the narcissistic and egocentric vituperations of Omoyele Sowore, who is nothing but a fake, misguided and crooked personality on a rascally mission of narrow self-aggrandizement and selfish delusional ambition.
- We are calling on the youths of the country, particularly those of the Southeast, to be wary of the antics and deceptions of Sowore and his cohorts. They should take a closer and critical look at the self-styled “Comrade” who claims to be a ‘revolutionary’ and is purportedly fighting for the masses, and look beyond his charade that he is indeed a sheep in a wolf’s garb; a stooge used by the enemies of democracy to thwart the gains so far garnered since President Bola Ahmed Tinubu took the mantle of leadership and is steering the ship of State to change the trajectory of Africa’s most populous black nation to prominence in global reckoning.
It should be noted that while he is calling out our youngsters to come out to the streets on protests, thereby exposing them to the risks of arrest, detentions or worse, his own children are attending Dwight Englewood, one of the most exclusive schools in the USA, and his wife and other family members are enjoying exclusive, cozy lifestyles of opulence and security in New Jersey, USA, which is not commensurate with his lifestyle and earnings in the country. This leaves a sour taste in the mouth that he is really a wolf, a con man and a blackmailer. What a cold-blooded, mindless, malicious, barefaced liar; an unscrupulous, manipulating hypocrite! - We are calling on the nation’s security agencies—the police, the DSS, NIA and others—to, as a matter of urgent national security exigency, go for the scum and threat to the nation in the person of Omoyele Sowore. He should be particularly questioned on his recent claims that “the results of the 2027 elections have already been written.”
On our part, the Arewa Voters Assembly is, for emphasis, vehemently and unequivocally reiterating its position that the Sowore’s planned so-called “Free Nnamdi Kanu” protest slated for the 20th of October, 2025, in Abuja, WILL NOT HOLD! We are very emphatic because that will be his last!
The Assembly has mobilised 60,000 of its members from the states to converge on the FCT in the days leading to the D-Day as a counterforce. We will chase and hunt for any miscreants seen on that day on the streets of Abuja in the name of protest. It is our fervent prayer that Sowore will not test our resolve.
On the intelligence we got that architects of the so-called peaceful protest plan to disrupt business activities at the Wuse market, we have promptly called on our members at the market to link up with other traders to jointly come out to resist the anarchists.
On a final note, the Arewa Voters Assembly (AVA) wishes to make it very clear that its position on Sowore’s planned protest should not be misconstrued to mean that we are against the person of Nnamdi Kanu. As democrats, our position is based on our ardent belief in the principles of the rule of law. Neither VIOLENCE, BLACKMAIL NOR GRANDSTANDING should prevail in the resolution of conflicts and dialogue.
While we are also not averse to the suggestion from certain quarters for “a political solution” to the situation, we insist however that justice, due process, equity and fair play should take precedence over sentiments. In this context, we want Nigerians to discard the pedestrian ranting of bigots, hypocrites, agent provocateurs and mischief makers who are whipping up regional, ethnic and religious emotions and sentiments with heinous ulterior and ignoble selfish motives to push their narrative against the Nigerian state.
We insist that the freedom or otherwise of Nnamdi Kanu should follow due judicial process. Let him go through his trial that is now ongoing in the court of law and face the outcome at the end of the day.
As much as we are not against justice for Kanu, we are also not unmindful of his violent activities, those of his lieutenants and foot soldiers that resulted in multitudes of deaths, various forms of physical disabilities and massive economic ruination in the Southeast. We believe that the victims of these wanton atrocities also deserve retribution and justice. We should not allow Nigeria to be turned into a banana republic where anarchy and lawlessness are the order of the day.
Long live one United, Peaceful Nigeria, Long live democracy
Comrade Ismail Ibrahim Bakori, (Convener)

Tinubu salutes Bisi Akande’s national legacy at 87
President Bola Tinubu has paid glowing tributes to Chief Bisi Akande, elder statesman and former APC national chairman, as he marked his 87th birthday.
Tinubu said this in a special tribute on Thursday to celebrate Akande’s life of service and democratic commitment.
He described Akande as a towering figure who contributed significantly to Nigeria’s political development and democratic institutionalisation.
The President said Akande’s political journey was shaped by Chief Obafemi Awolowo’s progressive ideology and commitment to public service.
Akande began his career as an accountant with British Petroleum before leaving the private sector for public service.
He served as Secretary to the State Government in old Oyo State in 1979 and later became Deputy Governor during the Second Republic.
Tinubu noted that Akande later served as Governor of Osun from 1999 to 2003, where he further distinguished himself.
As interim chairman of the APC, Akande laid the foundation for the party’s historic victory in 2015, Tinubu said.
The President praised Akande’s leadership, integrity, industry and sacrifices for the party and the nation.
He described Akande as a mentor whose guidance, advice and encouragement shaped his political journey.
Tinubu said Akande’s continued support for his administration and the Renewed Hope Agenda remains invaluable.
He noted that, even at 87, Akande remained a firm advocate of democracy, social justice and good governance.
The President prayed for Akande’s good health and renewed strength as he marked the milestone birthday.
