Police Arrest Four Over Mob Killing Of Jos Model Ibrahim Mbaya

The Plateau State Police Command has arrested four suspects in connection with the mob killing of Jos-based model and University of Jos graduate, Ibrahim Mbaya, popularly known as “Ibee.”

According to the police, six people were directly involved in the attack, while efforts are ongoing to arrest the remaining two suspects.

Speaking in Jos, the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Alfred Alabo, said the command received information from a Good Samaritan that a young man had been rushed to the hospital in critical condition.

“Through a Good Samaritan, the Plateau State Police Command received information that a young man had been taken to the hospital in a very critical condition,” he said.

The police spokesperson said the victim later died from the injuries he sustained.

Following the report, officers launched an investigation and arrested three suspects, who allegedly confessed to their roles during interrogation. A fourth suspect was later arrested.

“We have established that about six persons were directly involved in this incident, and efforts are ongoing to arrest the remaining suspects,” Alabo said.

He identified one of the principal suspects as Emmanuel Newyear, who was allegedly seen attacking the victim with a wooden plank. Another suspect, Joshua Tell, was also arrested during the investigation.

Alabo said the police have been working closely with the leadership of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) to ensure everyone involved in the killing is brought to justice.

“We have been working closely with the leadership of NANS to ensure that every person involved in this crime is identified and arrested,” he said.

He added that NANS officials attended the parade of the suspects to show their condemnation of the killing.

The police warned against jungle justice, urging Nigerians to report suspected crimes to security agencies instead of taking the law into their own hands.

The command also appealed to members of the public to provide useful information that could help investigators, assuring them that any information received would be treated confidentially.

The killing of Ibrahim Mbaya has sparked widespread outrage in Jos, with residents and civil society groups calling for justice and stronger action against mob violence in Plateau State.
