Police operatives reportedly discovered the firearms concealed in a bag inside the vehicle.
The command said a 30-year-old passenger, identified as Umaru M., initially denied ownership of the bag but later admitted to conveying the firearms and ammunition during interrogation.
His statement, according to the police Spokeswoman, Adetoun Ejire-Adeyemi SP, subsequently led investigators to a suspected gun-running link involving two other persons.
The suspect reportedly told investigators that one Dan Yarubawa gave him the firearms for onward delivery to another individual, identified as Dahiru, outside Kwara State.
The police said efforts were ongoing to arrest the other suspects and establish the full extent of the alleged gun-running network.
The Commissioner of Police, Kwara State Command, Ojo Adekimi, said the command would sustain intelligence-led operations to prevent criminal activities and protect lives and property across the state.
He also urged members of the public to provide timely and credible information to assist the police in identifying and disrupting threats to public safety.
