Police Rescue Kidnapped Victim In Adamawa, Kill Two Suspects
The Adamawa State Police Command has rescued a kidnapped victim after abductors allegedly demanded N90 million ransom from his family.
The victim, Sidiki Isah, a 54-year-old resident of Tambo Village in Girei Local Government Area, was reportedly held in a hideout by the kidnappers before police tracked down the location.
The operation was confirmed by the Adamawa State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Suleiman Nguroje, who said the rescue followed intelligence received by the command concerning the abduction.
According to him, the Commissioner of Police, Kabir Umar Hassan, immediately deployed operatives of the Anti-Kidnapping Unit alongside members of the Civilian Joint Task Force using geospatial intelligence to trace the kidnappers.
Nguroje explained that security operatives surrounded the area, but the suspects opened fire after noticing the approaching team.
“The security team responded professionally and successfully repelled the attackers,” he said.
During the gun battle, two suspected kidnappers were killed, while others reportedly escaped with gunshot wounds.
Police also recovered two AK-47 rifles, 17 rounds of live ammunition, a mobile phone, charms, and other items from the scene.
Nguroje added that the victim was rescued unharmed and has since been reunited with his family.
