Ronaldo refuses to play farewell game with Portugal after announcing retirement
Cristiano Ronaldo reportedly has no intention of featuring in a farewell match for Portugal following his international retirement.
According to Portuguese publication Observador, the 41-year-old forward may have already played his final game for the national team.
The Portuguese Football Federation (PFF) is reportedly interested in organising a special tribute to honour Ronaldo’s contribution to the country.
However, the former Real Madrid and Manchester United star is said to have rejected the idea of returning for one final appearance in Portugal’s colours.
A phone conversation involving Ronaldo and national team coach Jorge Jesus was reportedly scheduled for today. The call was arranged through PFF president Pedro Proença but did not take place.
Reports indicate that Ronaldo no longer wants to speak with Jesus or play under his leadership.
