Charlton Athletic have confirmed that goalkeeper Arthur Okonkwo has been invited to join the Nigeria squad for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Madagascar and Guinea-Bissau.
Okonkwo, who is currently on loan at Charlton from Wrexham, will be hoping to make his competitive debut for the Super Eagles in the upcoming qualifiers.
The 24-year-old has two international caps for Nigeria after making his debut during the Unity Cup at The Valley in May.
The Arsenal Academy graduate has made four appearances for Charlton so far this season and will now compete with Stanley Nwabali and Maduka Okoye for a starting spot.
Nigeria will begin their AFCON 2027 qualifying campaign against Madagascar at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo on Friday, September 25.
Eric Chelle’s side will then travel away to face Guinea-Bissau in their second qualifying fixture four days later.
