Popular sports journalist Oma Akatugba has claimed that Super Eagles goalkeeper Maduka Okoye once rejected the advances of a Nigerian billionaire’s daughter.

According to Oma, the incident happened when Okoye was still playing for Sparta Rotterdam in the Netherlands.

The journalist said he was visiting the goalkeeper at his residence when Okoye showed him a message he had received from the daughter of a Nigerian billionaire.

Oma explained that he encouraged the footballer to give the lady a chance, pointing out that she came from a wealthy family. However, Okoye reportedly declined, saying she was not his type.

Sharing the story on his X account, Oma wrote:

“One day I was at Maduka’s place while he was still living in Holland, and he showed me his phone. He had a message from the daughter of a Nigerian billionaire. I screamed, ‘Bro, this one na big fish o!’ He laughed and said, ‘Yeah, but she’s not really in my league beauty-wise.’”

it was reported that many Nigerian women publicly expressed admiration for Maduka Okoye after he made his debut for the Super Eagles in 2019, with many praising his looks and physique.

As the attention continued to grow, Okoye later revealed that he was already in a relationship.

The goalkeeper is currently in a long-term relationship with Dutch model Jelicia Westhoff. The couple have a son named Isaiah Emil Okoye.
