Super Eagles: Osayi-Samuel Pulls Out Of Russia Friendly
Bright Osayi-Samuel has become the latest established Super Eagles player to withdraw from Nigeria’s international friendly against Russia.
The Fenerbahçe defender joins captain Wilfred Ndidi, who had earlier pulled out of the encounter scheduled for Tuesday, October 6.
FC Basel defender Akpe Victory has also been ruled out of the fixture after sustaining an injury.
Following the withdrawals, Ndidi has been replaced by John Oromewo, while Vince Osuji has been called up to take the place of Victory.
The Super Eagles arrived in Moscow on Friday ahead of the friendly, with head coach Éric Chelle expected to use the match to assess several players.
Nigeria and Russia previously met at senior international level in June 2025, with both teams playing out a 1-1 draw.
