Suspected Boko Haram Terrorists Kill Forest Guard, Three Others In Adamawa

Suspected Boko Haram terrorists have attacked Zah community in Yadul District of Hong Local Government Area, Adamawa State, killing four people, including a forest guard.

Zah is one of several communities in Hong LGA that has suffered repeated attacks over the years because of its proximity to the Sambisa Forest in neighbouring Borno State.

According to reports, the attack happened on the evening of Monday, July 27, when the gunmen stormed the community on motorcycles.

The attackers reportedly fired indiscriminately, set several houses on fire and opened fire on residents, killing four people, including a forest guard who was helping to protect the community from terrorists and other criminals.

The terrorists also abducted a middle-aged woman before security personnel engaged them in a gun battle, forcing them to flee the area.

The Chairman of Hong Local Government Area, Aliyu Saad Yerima Hong, confirmed the attack and said additional security personnel had been deployed to restore calm in the community.

He urged residents to remain vigilant, work closely with security agencies and report any suspicious activities.

“Residents should remain vigilant, cooperate closely with security agencies, and promptly report any suspicious activity in their surroundings,” he said.

The council chairman also praised the security forces for their swift response, saying their intervention prevented the attack from causing more casualties.

“We deeply appreciate the courage and dedication of our security forces. Had it not been for their prompt response, the casualties would have been far higher,” he added.
