Teacher allegedly rapes 10-year-old girl in Adamawap

A 54-year-old primary school teacher, Garba Suleiman, has been arrested in Adamawa for allegedly defiling a 10-year-old girl.

The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) of the Command, SP Suleiman Nguroje, disclosed the development while parading the suspect.

Nguroje explained that the arrest followed a complaint lodged by the victim’s family at the Divisional Police Headquarters, Yola South LGA.

According to him, operatives of the Command swiftly swung into action and arrested the suspect, noting that preliminary investigation revealed that the suspect allegedly lured the minor and had unlawful carnal knowledge of her.

Nguroje added that the victim had been taken to hospital for medical examination.

“The Commissioner of Police, CP Kabir Umar Hassan, has ordered the transfer of the case to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Yola, for discreet investigation and prosecution.

“The CP condemns in strong terms all forms of Gender-Based Violence and assures the public that justice will be served.

“CP also urges parents and guardians to be vigilant and to promptly report any suspicious person or activity to the police,” he stated.
