Transfer: Difficult To Let Him Go – Arteta Reacts As Arsenal Midfielder Leaves Club
Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has admitted it was difficult to let midfielder Christian Norgaard leave the club this summer.
On Wednesday, Arsenal confirmed that Norgaard has completed a permanent move to Everton after spending one season at the Emirates.
The 32-year-old joined Arsenal from Brentford in July 2025 and played an important role in the squad.
Speaking after the transfer was confirmed, Arteta praised the Danish midfielder for his contribution to the club.
“I am very thankful for what he brought to the club, how he helped us to win,” Arteta told Arsenal’s official website.
“It was difficult to let him go. I understand it’s a stage in his career that he needs to play and fulfil as well, all their dreams, but [we are] forever thankful.”
Norgaard made 20 appearances in all competitions last season as Arsenal won the Premier League title under Arteta.
