Transfer: Liverpool Agree Deal To Sign Barcelona Defender Araujo
Liverpool have reportedly agreed a deal to sign Barcelona defender Ronald Araujo on loan.
According to Sky Sports, the transfer could be completed as early as this weekend. The agreement is understood to be a straight loan deal for the 27-year-old Uruguay international.
Araujo signed a new contract with Barcelona last year, keeping him at the club until 2031. However, he endured a difficult campaign last season and was subsequently given an extended leave of absence from the team.
The move to Liverpool will give Araujo the opportunity to start a new chapter in a different country and league.
Araujo joined Barcelona from Uruguayan club Boston River in 2018. He was promoted to the first team a year later and went on to establish himself as an important defender for the Catalan club.
