U-17 WWC: Japan fired up for historic clash against Flamingos – Shirai
Japan U-17 women’s head coach Sadayoshi Shirai has declared his team’s determination to make history by winning the 2026 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup title.
Japan will face Nigeria’s Flamingos in the final at Pitch 3 of the Mohammed VI Football Complex in Rabat on Sunday.
The encounter will mark the first-ever meeting between the two countries at this level, adding another historic dimension to the final.
Both teams will be seeking to win their first-ever FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup title, making the contest an opportunity for either nation to achieve a major milestone.
Japan have impressed throughout the tournament in Morocco, winning all three of their group-stage matches. They remain the only country to have achieved that feat in the competition.
Shirai said his players are determined to build on their performances and finish the tournament with the trophy.
“We don’t want to stop here. We’ll continue moving forward, prepare as well as we can for the final, and give everything we have to become world champions,” Shirai told FIFA.
