UCL: Carrick Apologises, Explains Why Man Utd Lost 4-1 Against Como
Manchester United manager Michael Carrick has apologised to the club’s supporters following his side’s disappointing 4-1 defeat to Como in the UEFA Champions League on Wednesday.
The Red Devils suffered a heavy loss against the Italian side in Italy, with Joshua Zirkzee scoring a late consolation goal that did little to change the outcome of the encounter.
Speaking after the match, Carrick expressed his disappointment with the team’s performance and apologised to the travelling supporters who had made the trip to watch Manchester United.
“First, I want to apologize to the traveling fans. After the final whistle, I walked towards the away section,” the United manager said.
Carrick admitted that his players failed to meet the standards expected of them, describing their display as unacceptable and insisting that the team’s overall performance was not good enough.
“Playing the way we did tonight is utterly unacceptable. This was not a performance of sufficient quality,” he stated, acknowledging the team’s shortcomings against Como.
The defeat represents another setback for Manchester United in their Champions League campaign, with the English club struggling to secure the results needed to improve their position in the competition.
