UNL: Cristiano Ronaldo Leaves Portugal Camp After Clash With Coach Jorge Jesus

Portugal captain Cristiano Ronaldo has confirmed that he has left the national team’s training camp following developments involving head coach Jorge Jesus.

Ronaldo announced his departure in a statement on Wednesday night, saying he would reveal more details about the circumstances behind his decision at a later date.

He said: “After the National Team coach’s press conference, and following a conversation with the President of the Portuguese Football Federation, I have decided to leave the National Team training camp.”

The 41-year-old added that he remains committed to Portugal and has always given his best to the national team. Ronaldo said he would eventually explain the reasons behind his decision to leave the camp.

“In due time, I will tell all Portuguese people the truth about the reasons that led to my departure from the national team, to which I have always dedicated myself,” he said.

Ronaldo concluded his statement by wishing the team and his teammates well, saying: “Now is the time to wish good luck to Portugal and to all my teammates.”

Earlier on Wednesday, Jesus insisted that there was no problem between him and Ronaldo. The Portugal coach also claimed that Ronaldo remained interested in continuing with the national team, despite being left on the bench for the entire 90 minutes during Portugal’s 2-1 Nations League victory over Norway.
