‘Late Mr Ibu Did Not Do Well At All’ – Rita Edochie Reacts to Family Property Dispute
Nollywood actress Rita Edochie has weighed in on the ongoing property dispute involving the family of late actor John Okafor, saying the situation reflects the challenges associated with polygamous family structures.
The dispute has involved Mr Ibu’s widow, Stella Maris Okafor, and some of the late actor’s children over the sale of his properties.
Reacting in a post on Instagram, Rita Edochie argued that the ongoing disagreements highlight the long-term consequences of polygamy, insisting that it often creates division and conflict within families.
She wrote:
“I do not want to be numbered… Here is the main reason polygamy has done more harm than good, not just in Nigeria but in Africa as a whole. We must call a spade a spade. The late Mr Ibu did not do well at all!!!! No matter how we try to sugarcoat polygamy or paint it as a cultural success story, it still does not change the fact that it has been one of the greatest marital errors that has jeopardised the peace, unity and harmony of countless families.”
She continued:
“Every single day, I keep seeing more reasons to detest and despise polygamy. It is not something I would ever wish on my worst enemy. Time and again, life keeps presenting fresh evidence that where polygamy exists, peace is constantly under threat, while division patiently waits for its opportunity.
“Polygamy has been defended for generations, yet the painful outcomes continue to repeat themselves—rivalry, jealousy, unhealthy competition, bitterness, divided loyalties, inheritance disputes and prolonged family conflicts have become familiar stories in polygamous homes. The painful aspect of it comes when the proud polygamist is gone to the other side.”
Referring to the situation surrounding Mr Ibu’s family, Rita Edochie said the public disagreements over property should serve as a lesson to others.
“The situation currently playing out in Mr Ibu’s family has become another painful reminder of how difficult such family structure can become. The public disagreements among family members over properties and other issues are heartbreaking to watch. While every family has its own unique circumstance, this serves as a serious warning to those who are currently in polygamous homes or are planning to build one tomorrow.”

I’m Not Ready for a Baby – Peller Denies Jarvis Pregnancy Rumours
Nigerian TikTok star Peller has dismissed rumours that his fiancée, Jarvis, is pregnant.
Speculation about Jarvis’ pregnancy has been circulating on social media in recent weeks, with some users pointing to photos and videos of her, including footage from the couple’s wedding asoebi fabric shopping, as evidence of an alleged baby bump.
Speaking during a livestream, Peller denied the claims, insisting that he and Jarvis are not planning to have a child at this stage of their relationship.
According to him, he wants to achieve greater financial success before starting a family.
He also explained that people had mistaken Jarvis’ appearance for pregnancy, claiming that her stomach looked bigger because she had eaten late at night.
He said:
“I’m vexed that people are saying you’re pregnant. Can a pregnant woman cook at this time? I will get her pregnant, but right now, I’m still making a token for myself. I’m not ready for a baby.
“I have to be making billions before thinking about pregnancy. Don’t put any pregnancy on my head. It’s late-night food that’s causing that big stomach.”
Peller urged people to stop spreading the rumours, stressing that he and Jarvis would only become parents when they both decide the time is right.
The couple recently got engaged after Peller proposed to Jarvis during a trip to Ghana. He later announced that he had also paid her bride price.

Nigerian skit maker and content creator Carter Efe has reacted to the controversy surrounding an academic certificate he claimed was issued by Babcock University.
Speaking during a livestream with other content creators while selling akara on the street, Carter Efe addressed reports that the university was looking into the matter.
In a light-hearted response, he said anyone from Babcock trying to see him would have to pay an expensive “ticket” before gaining access.
He said:
“Babcock, I hear say Babcock una dey look for me. Una no go see me. Before una go see me, una go pay N100,000 for ticket, and we are coming to Babcock soon.”
The controversy began after Carter Efe shared a document online which he claimed was his degree certificate from Babcock University, stating that he studied Biochemistry and graduated with top honours.
