The veteran actress said she believes God gave her a particular niche in the Nigerian film industry, despite her personal dislike for evil and injustice.

“I think God gave me that niche. I hate every ill because I don’t like injustice, war, and rancour. When you give me those roles, I try to bring everything into them,” she said.

Ozokwor explained that she does not simply portray wicked characters for entertainment but tries to use such roles to communicate important lessons about life and the consequences of bad behaviour.

She said actors who portray such characters must understand the consequences of the actions of the people they represent.

“If you are taking part in any of them, you have to be careful and know the end thereof, for the end justifies the means. Know what will happen to you if you live a terrible life, and know what you will gain if you are a good person,” she added.

The actress noted that her performances are carefully crafted to show viewers the consequences of negative behaviour.

Patience Ozokwor has become widely recognised in Nollywood for playing strict mothers, wicked women, witches and other antagonistic characters, roles that have made her one of the most recognisable faces in Nigerian cinema.

She described her portrayal of villainous characters as a form of social instruction, using Nollywood storytelling to encourage viewers to understand the consequences of their actions and make better choices.
