Speaking in a recent interview with media personality Femi Baba, Ozokwor recalled how she once asked her son to leave her home so he could become independent and make a living for himself.

She said parents should not deprive their children of the opportunity to struggle simply because they do not want them to experience the difficulties they faced while growing up.

“The fastest way to ruin a child’s life is to say you don’t want them to suffer the way you did.

“When you’re gone, they may start fighting over your property. I told my son, ‘My house isn’t yours. Go and work for your own,’” she said.

Ozokwor explained that she raised her children with discipline and taught them the importance of hard work, adding that they are doing well because of the values they were brought up with.

The movie icon urged parents to allow their children to experience challenges and learn the value of hard work, stressing that excessive pampering may prevent them from becoming responsible and independent adults.
