Nigerian Afrobeats star Wizkid has revealed that one of his biggest challenges while living in the United States was finding Nigerian food.

The Grammy-winning singer said he spent two years in the US but often missed Nigerian meals, forcing him to spend between $300 and $400 every day just to satisfy his cravings.

Despite his international success and luxurious lifestyle, Wizkid described himself as “a local boy,” saying his love for Nigerian food has never changed.

Speaking about the experience, he said:

“I only eat Nigerian food everywhere I go. I got bored staying in the USA for two years because I wasn’t getting Nigerian food as much as I wanted.

“I used to spend $300 to $400 every single day for two years in the US just to have a taste of Nigerian food.

“I’m a local boy. Forget all this Louis Vuitton and Gucci stuff. I love what I love, you know.

“You can take the boy out of the ghetto, but you cannot take the ghetto out of the boy.”
