Wizkid, Wande Coal Advised Me On How To Leave School For Music – Davido

Nigerian music star David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has revealed that he sought advice from Wizkid and Wande Coal in the early stages of his career on how to balance his education with his ambition to pursue music.

Speaking in the Afrobeats Documentary, Davido said he asked the two singers how they were able to leave school and focus on their music careers.

According to him, Wizkid and Wande Coal told him that he would only be able to leave school if he became successful in music.

“I asked Wizkid and Wande Coal how they left school to do music. They told me the only way was to blow up,” he said.

Davido explained that he knew his father would not allow him to abandon his education for music. However, after his hit song, ‘Dami Duro’, became successful, he could no longer continue with his schooling at the time.

“I knew my dad wouldn’t allow me, but when ‘Dami Duro’ blew up, I couldn’t continue,” he said.

Davido later returned to school after reaching an agreement with his father. The arrangement allowed him to continue his education while pursuing his music career, with his father providing him with a recording studio and giving him permission to pursue music.

He eventually graduated from Babcock University in 2015 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Music.
