Zayn Collaboration: Ayra Starr Reflects On Fulfilling Childhood Dream

Afrobeats singer Ayra Starr has opened up about one of the most memorable moments of her music career — collaborating with former One Direction star Zayn Malik.

The singer revealed that working with Zayn was once only a childhood dream when she was a schoolgirl and a big fan of One Direction.

According to Ayra Starr, she used to spend her school days writing the band’s lyrics in her notebooks. At the time, she never imagined that she would one day record a song with one of the group’s biggest stars.

Speaking about her latest album, Starrgirl, Ayra said the collaboration felt unbelievable because it brought a long-held childhood dream to reality.

“What once felt impossible is now my reality,” the singer said, reflecting on her journey from being a schoolgirl who admired One Direction to becoming one of Africa’s most recognised music stars.

The experience became even more special when Ayra Starr met Zayn in person during the filming of the song’s music video.

She described the meeting as shocking and unforgettable, considering how much she admired the group while growing up.
