Zidane Names Four Captains For France

France head coach Zinédine Zidane has selected four players who will serve as captains for the national team.

Kylian Mbappé, Ousmane Dembélé, Adrien Rabiot and Jules Koundé make up the new leadership hierarchy under Zidane.

Mbappé, who has made 106 appearances for Les Bleus, will retain the captain’s armband and remain France’s first-choice captain.

Paris Saint-Germain winger Dembélé has been named vice-captain. The 29-year-old has represented France 67 times at senior level.

Rabiot, who has 66 caps, will occupy the third position in the captaincy hierarchy, while Koundé, with 56 international appearances, has been selected as the fourth captain.

According to RMC Sport, Zidane’s choices were largely influenced by the players’ seniority and experience with the national team.

Zidane took over as France head coach after the 2026 FIFA World Cup, replacing Didier Deschamps. His first major task will be to lead the team into the next phase of international competition with Mbappé, Dembélé, Rabiot and Koundé providing leadership.
