2026 Ballon d’Or: He should do it again – LaLiga chief Tebas names winner of award

LaLiga president Javier Tebas believes Barcelona midfielder Rodri deserves to win the 2026 Ballon d’Or.

Tebas has backed the Spain international to claim the prestigious award for a second time, following his impressive performances at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Rodri played a key role in Spain’s successful World Cup campaign and was recognised as one of the standout players of the tournament. Tebas believes his performances on the international stage have made him the leading candidate for the individual prize.

Although Rodri spent a significant period of the season out injured, Tebas believes that should not prevent him from winning the award.

“Even though he was out for long periods due to injury, at the World Cup he played at an incredibly high level.

“I think Rodri should win the Ballon d’Or again,” Tebas said.

Rodri previously won the Ballon d’Or in 2024, finishing ahead of Real Madrid star Vinicius Junior. Tebas now expects the Barcelona midfielder to add another Ballon d’Or to his collection when the award is presented next month.
