Desire Doué then scored the winning goal in the second half as PSG claimed another European title.

The victory gave PSG back-to-back Super Cup titles and further strengthened the Ballon d’Or cases of some of their leading players, according to BBC Sport.
The race for the prestigious individual award remains open, with performances at the 2026 FIFA World Cup also expected to have a major influence on the voting.
The current top five Ballon d’Or rankings are:
- Harry Kane (England/Bayern Munich): Kane currently has the strongest statistical case after scoring 73 goals for Bayern Munich. He also helped the German club secure a domestic double and reach the Champions League semi-finals.
- Ousmane Dembele (France/PSG): The reigning Ballon d’Or winner strengthened his case with six World Cup goals, including a hat-trick against Norway. PSG’s success domestically and in Europe has also boosted his chances of retaining the award.
- Lamine Yamal (Spain/Barcelona): Yamal helped Barcelona win LaLiga and the Supercopa de España. Spain’s success at the 2026 World Cup has further strengthened his candidacy, despite his quieter individual performance at the tournament.
- Rodri (Spain/Man City): The 2024 Ballon d’Or winner claimed the World Cup Golden Ball after featuring in all eight of Spain’s matches. He also won the Carabao Cup and FA Cup with Manchester City, although the club missed out on the Premier League and Champions League titles.
- Kylian Mbappé (France/Real Madrid): Mbappé enjoyed an impressive World Cup campaign, scoring 10 goals and providing four assists as France finished fourth. He also became the first player to win the Golden Boot awards in LaLiga, the Champions League and the World Cup in the same calendar year. However, his lack of major team trophies has weakened his overall Ballon d’Or case.
