Nigeria’s Super Falcons secured a 2-0 victory over Comoros in the first leg of their second-round qualifying tie for the 2028 Olympic Games in Ikenne on Friday.

The 10-time African champions dominated the first half but struggled to break down Comoros’ defence before the interval.

Nigeria eventually took the lead just two minutes into the second half when Michelle Alozie found the back of the net.

The goal was Alozie’s second for the Super Falcons, giving the hosts the breakthrough they had been seeking.

The Super Falcons doubled their advantage in the 60th minute through Uchenna Kanu, who converted Jennifer Echegini’s corner kick to make it 2-0.

The victory gives Nigeria a two-goal advantage heading into the return leg as they aim to progress to the next stage of the Olympic qualifiers.
