2026 Ballon d’Or: Thierry Henry reacts as Kane wins ahead of Yamal, Mbappe
France football legend Thierry Henry has acknowledged that Bayern Munich striker Harry Kane deserved to win the 2026 Ballon d’Or following his impressive performances during the season.
Kane was announced as the winner on Monday night after competing against several top players, including Barcelona youngster Lamine Yamal and Real Madrid forward Kylian Mbappé.
The England captain scored 73 goals for club and country last season, highlighting his remarkable contribution in front of goal.
He also finished as the Bundesliga’s leading goalscorer for the third consecutive season and emerged as Europe’s highest overall club goalscorer for the 2025-26 campaign.
Speaking to DAZN, Henry admitted that although he would normally support his fellow Frenchmen, he recognised Kane’s achievements and believed the striker was a worthy winner.
“I would always back my fellow Frenchmen but I have to say something about Harry Kane,” Henry said.
He added: “I have seen him since the beginning. He had to suffer really hard to achieve what he has achieved. A worthy winner, well done.”
