AFCON 2027Q: Iwobi Voted MOTM In Super Eagles’ Win Over Madagascar
Alex Iwobi was voted Man of the Match after Nigeria’s hard-fought 2-1 victory over Madagascar in their 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier in Uyo on Friday night.
The Super Eagles came from behind to secure all three points in their opening Matchday 1 fixture against the Barea of Madagascar.
Iwobi played a key role in the comeback, providing the assist for debutant George Ilenikhena to score Nigeria’s equalising goal in the 45th minute.
The Fulham midfielder featured for the full 90 minutes and worked effectively alongside captain Wilfred Ndidi in the centre of the pitch.
The match was also a landmark appearance for Iwobi, as it marked his 101st game for the three-time African champions.
His impressive performance will be a major boost as Nigeria prepare for their next 2027 AFCON qualifier against Guinea-Bissau on Tuesday.
