American Jazz Singer, Cassandra Wilson Dies At 70

Grammy Award-winning American jazz singer, Cassandra Wilson, has died at the age of 70.

Wilson died on Wednesday, September 2, 2026, in her hometown of Jackson, Mississippi.

Her management confirmed her death in a statement, with her manager, Robert Torre, saying she “transitioned peacefully at home, surrounded by family, close friends, and her manager.”

Torre asked the public to respect the family’s privacy but did not disclose the cause of her death.

Her death marks the loss of one of the notable voices in American jazz, with fans and colleagues mourning her passing.
