Bauchi Police Arrest Man Over Alleged Defilement Of Eight-Month-Old Stepdaughter

The Bauchi State Police Command has arrested a man identified as Balarabe Adamu over the alleged sexual abuse of his eight-month-old stepdaughter in Toro Local Government Area of the state.

The incident was reportedly brought to the attention of the police on Wednesday, August 26, 2026, at about 5:34 p.m.

According to the police, Adamu, who resides in Lame, Toro LGA, allegedly abused the infant after she was brought to his residence by his wife.

The police said the baby was immediately taken to General Hospital, Toro, for medical examination and treatment following the alleged incident.

Following the report, police operatives attached to the Gumau Division responded and arrested the suspect.

Adamu is currently in police custody as investigations into the allegation continue.

The Commissioner of Police in Bauchi State, CP Sani-Omolori Aliyu, condemned the alleged act, describing it as unacceptable.

He assured the public that the police would carry out a thorough investigation and prosecute the suspect if the allegation is established.

“The case will be thoroughly investigated and the suspect will be charged to court upon conclusion, in accordance with the law,” the Commissioner said.

The Commissioner also reaffirmed the Command’s “zero-tolerance” policy towards sexual violence and child abuse.

He urged parents, guardians and community leaders to remain vigilant and report suspected cases of child abuse to the nearest police station as soon as possible.
