The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Nasarawa State has arrested two suspects over the alleged theft of a vehicle and an attempt to sell the stolen car.

The suspects, identified as 68-year-old Adamu Mohammed and 32-year-old Emmanuel Omaku, were arrested on August 21, 2026.

According to the NSCDC, the suspects were arrested at a mechanic workshop along Secretariat Road, Shabu, in Lafia North Development Area of Nasarawa State.

The operatives reportedly acted on credible intelligence and intercepted the suspects while they were allegedly attempting to dispose of the vehicle.

Items recovered from the suspects included a 2010 Toyota Camry, popularly known as Camry Muscle; two vehicle number plates bearing ABJ-289-CQ from Abuja and LAF-761-AG from Nasarawa; a Moniepoint ATM card; a cutlass; and ₦169,500 in cash.

The State Commandant of the NSCDC, Brah Samson Umoru, said the Command has commenced a thorough investigation to establish the ownership and source of the vehicle.

He added that the investigation would also determine the roles played by the two suspects and identify other individuals who may be connected to the alleged crime.

“We are determined to identify, arrest and dismantle criminal networks involved in vehicle theft, robbery and other forms of criminality across Nasarawa State,” Umoru said.

He urged residents to provide security agencies with credible and timely information, stressing that cooperation from the public is important in preventing crime.

The NSCDC also said efforts were ongoing to arrest other suspected members of the alleged gang who are still at large.
