Burna Boy revealed that he, Vinicius and Brown are members of a group chat called “Seven,” where they discuss different issues.
According to him, their most recent conversation involved plans to bring the sports stars to Nigeria.
He said, “Now we have a 7 team. It’s me, Vini, and I don’t know if you know Jaylen Brown.”
When asked whether he meant the NBA player, Burna Boy confirmed, “Yeah, that’s our Seven group chat.”
He added, “It’s a lot of things. The last conversation we had is bringing all of them to Nigeria.”
Burna Boy also spoke about the football academy he established in Nigeria.
He explained that he was inspired to start the academy after watching a documentary about community football in Jamaica.
The singer said he wants to help develop young Nigerian footballers and give them the opportunity to eventually play for top European clubs such as Manchester United.
“So I just started throwing my money at it,” Burna Boy said.
The Grammy-winning artiste also recalled his encounters with other major football stars, including former Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba and England captain Harry Kane.
He said he met Pogba at his 30th birthday celebration in the United States after the former France international surprised him with a visit to his home.
Burna Boy also revealed that he met Kane while attending his uncle’s birthday dinner.
“We just ran into him having dinner. And, yeah, just dragged him to the party,” he said.
The singer further named former Super Eagles captain Austin “Jay-Jay” Okocha as his greatest footballer of all time.
Burna Boy said Okocha has not received enough recognition for his impact on football and argued that the Nigerian legend deserves to be mentioned among the greatest players in the history of the sport.
“Obviously, Jay-Jay Okocha, and I’ll tell you why,” he said.
“Because I feel like he hasn’t gotten the flowers that he deserves. I feel like his name should be called in the leagues of, like, the legends’ legends.”
He added that Okocha’s name should even be mentioned before Ronaldinho when discussing football legends.
