Chelsea Stars Palmer, Rogers Continue Player Of The Match Debate After Leeds Win
Chelsea stars Cole Palmer and Morgan Rogers have continued their playful disagreement over who deserved the Player of the Match award after their Carabao Cup win over Leeds United.
Rogers provided four assists during Chelsea’s 6-3 comeback victory, while Palmer scored twice and was named Sky Sports’ official Player of the Match.
Rogers was clearly unhappy with the decision and joked that the award should have gone to him because of his four assists.
“I got four assists! Nah, nah, nah, I can’t believe that. That is mental. He scored a pen! Nah, that’s mental. Nah, that is criminal.”
When asked if he would present the award to Palmer, Rogers replied: “Unfortunately, yeah. It’s rigged, honestly, it’s rigged.”
The debate continued on Thursday after Chelsea gave Rogers their own Star of the Match recognition. Palmer reacted to the club’s post with “???”, while Rogers responded: “The fans know.”
