EPL: You’re not part of my plans – Xabi Alonso informs Chelsea player

Chelsea manager Xabi Alonso has told midfielder Kendry Paez that he is not part of his first-team plans this season.

The 19-year-old returned to Stamford Bridge after his loan spell with River Plate was terminated at the end of last month.

Paez is yet to make an appearance for Chelsea since joining the club from Independiente del Valle last summer.

Chelsea attempted to find the Ecuador international another loan move in England before the domestic transfer deadline on September 1, but no deal was completed.

With no new club secured, Paez remains at Chelsea but will not be reintegrated into Alonso’s first-team squad before the January transfer window.

Alonso confirmed the situation while speaking about the youngster, making it clear that Paez is currently outside his plans.

“At the moment he is not part of the first-team squad. He’s not in our plans,” Alonso said.

Paez will now have to wait until January for another opportunity to secure a move away from Chelsea or find a new solution to his current situation.
