Arsenal and Manchester City will not receive any prize money for participating in this year’s Community Shield.

Mikel Arteta’s side defeated Manchester City 3-0 in Cardiff on Sunday to lift the first silverware of the 2026/27 season.

Riccardo Calafiori opened the scoring after just 25 seconds, giving Arsenal an early lead.

Kai Havertz then doubled the advantage when his header was fumbled over the line by Manchester City goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma.

Shortly after the break, Martin Odegaard calmly finished to score Arsenal’s third goal and complete a convincing victory over their Premier League rivals.

However, despite winning the trophy, Arsenal will not receive a financial prize for their victory.

According to the UK Mirror, the Community Shield does not offer prize money to either the winner or the losing team.

Instead, the money generated from the match is distributed to charities and used to support different levels of the football pyramid in England.

Revenue from ticket sales, sponsorships and television rights all contributes to the charitable funds.
