Cristiano Ronaldo Leading Race For Greatest Ballon d’Or Win Of All Time
Al Nassr captain Cristiano Ronaldo is leading an official Ballon d’Or fan vote to determine the greatest winning season in the history of the prestigious football award.
The official Ballon d’Or platform launched the special competition at the beginning of October, inviting fans to vote for the most outstanding season by a past winner.
The contest features 10 football legends who have won the Ballon d’Or at least twice, including Lionel Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo, Ronaldo Nazário, Marco van Basten and Michel Platini.
Other nominees are Karl-Heinz Rummenigge, Kevin Keegan, Franz Beckenbauer, Johan Cruyff and Alfredo Di Stéfano.
Rather than voting for their favourite footballer, fans are required to select a specific Ballon d’Or-winning season they believe deserves recognition as the greatest of all time.
Ronaldo’s 2008 winning season is currently leading the poll with 62 per cent of the votes. The Portuguese superstar claimed his first Ballon d’Or that year while playing for Manchester United.
