EPL: Carrick on brink of sack after Man Utd lose 3-0 to Bournemouth
Manchester United manager Michael Carrick is reportedly facing the possibility of being sacked following his side’s disappointing 3-0 defeat to Bournemouth in the Premier League on Sunday.
The result extended United’s winless run to eight matches across all competitions, increasing the pressure on Carrick as the club continues to struggle for consistency.
United had hoped to recover from their 4-1 Champions League defeat to Como in midweek, but Bournemouth proved too strong at Old Trafford, leaving the hosts with another disappointing result.
Bournemouth took control of the match in the first half, with Rayan and Marcus Tavernier scoring to give the visitors a two-goal advantage before the interval.
Manchester United struggled to respond after the break, and their situation worsened when Evanilson capitalised on an error by goalkeeper Senne Lammens to score Bournemouth’s third goal.
The defeat leaves United in 16th place in the Premier League table, with just seven points from their opening eight matches. Their poor form has raised further questions about the team’s performances and Carrick’s future.
