EPL: ‘He can go home happy’ – Pat Nevin singles out Man United star after 2-2 with Everton

Former Chelsea star Pat Nevin has praised Manchester United left-back Luke Shaw following their 2-2 draw with Everton in the Premier League on Sunday.

Shaw played a key role in United’s late goal when his excellent run and cross allowed Benjamin Sesko to head the ball past Jordan Pickford with just three minutes remaining.

The left-back had endured a difficult start to the season, particularly during United’s 2-0 defeat to newly promoted Hull City on the opening weekend.

However, manager Michael Carrick continued to back Shaw despite criticism over the club’s failure to sign another left-back before the transfer window closed.

Nevin believes Shaw rewarded his manager’s faith with an impressive performance against Everton, particularly with his contribution in attack.

“Luke Shaw should take pride in his efforts. The reaction from Shaw was superb. He can go home happy with his efforts today,” Nevin said on BBC.

He added: “Well done to Benjamin Sesko. Luke Shaw down the left flank was outstanding today. Tyrique George failed to keep up with him, allowing Shaw to deliver an easy cross. George is aware that it was his responsibility that he left unmarked.”
