Former Chelsea winger Willian has named Frank Lampard as the best manager he played under at Stamford Bridge after Jose Mourinho.

The Brazilian described Lampard as a top manager and praised him for giving players the freedom to express themselves on the pitch.

Willian joined Chelsea in 2013 after being signed by Mourinho and went on to work under several other managers, including Antonio Conte, Maurizio Sarri and Lampard.

“Lampard was top. For me, at Chelsea, after Mourinho, he was the best,” Willian said on The Obi One podcast.

The former Brazil international explained that Lampard trusted him and allowed him to play with freedom. “He literally gave me the key [freedom to express myself]. I was the captain in some games,” he added.

Willian spent seven years at Chelsea, making 339 appearances for the club before leaving in 2020 to join Premier League rivals Arsenal.
