EPL: Jamie Carragher Names Best Midfielder In Premier League

Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher has insisted that Arsenal midfielder Declan Rice remains the best midfielder in the Premier League.

Carragher believes Rice deserves the recognition because he helped Arsenal win the Premier League title last season. The former Liverpool defender maintained that the England international should remain ahead of other midfielders in the country.

Carragher made the comments while discussing Manchester City midfielder Elliot Anderson’s impressive performance against Liverpool at the weekend.

“If you are a Newcastle fan watching Elliot Anderson… they had to sell him, but you think now, could they have sold someone else and kept him?” Carragher said, as quoted by Metro UK.

He also questioned the financial decision behind Newcastle’s sale of Anderson, suggesting that the midfielder has developed into one of the leading players in his position.

“It was not a lot of money that they sold him for, and you are now looking at arguably the best midfield player in the country, alongside Declan Rice,” Carragher stated.

However, Carragher made his preference clear, adding: “I would always put Declan Rice on top of that list, certainly at the end of last season, when he helped Arsenal win the title.” His comments underline the high regard in which he holds the Arsenal star.
