EPL: Man City Must Face Consequences – UK Prime Minister, Andy Burnham
UK Prime Minister Andy Burnham has said Manchester City must face “appropriate consequences” if breaches of Premier League financial rules are established.
Burnham made his position known in a statement released on Thursday by a spokesperson for 10 Downing Street, stressing that the matter remains subject to an independent process.
“As the Prime Minister made clear, the initial judgement is serious and there can’t be any suggestion that anyone is above the rules,” the statement read.
The spokesperson added that the ongoing independent process must be allowed to reach its conclusion and that its eventual outcome should be respected.
“He also stressed that it is an ongoing independent process. It is essential that it is allowed to run its course and the outcome respected,” the statement said.
The statement further stressed: “Wherever wrongdoing is established, those responsible should face the appropriate consequences.”
