Manchester United legend Paul Scholes has criticised Arsenal midfielder Declan Rice for his challenge on Chelsea forward Morgan Rogers during their Premier League clash.

Scholes described Rice’s action as “the most annoying offence in the world” after the two players were involved in a heated incident during Arsenal’s 2-1 victory over Chelsea.

The former England midfielder was speaking on The Good, The Bad & The Football podcast alongside his former Manchester United teammate Nicky Butt.

Rice and Rogers clashed during the closing stages of the London derby, with tensions rising between the two players.

Scholes suggested there could have been some previous history between the pair, asking Butt: “Do you think there might have been a little bit of something during the summer between Morgan Rogers and Declan Rice?”

He then criticised Rice for bringing Rogers down while the Chelsea player was running, saying: “What Declan Rice did to him was the most annoying thing in the world. When people just leg you up when you are running.”
