EPL table: Arsenal defeat Liverpool 1-0 to go 3pts clear of Man City
Arsenal have moved three points clear at the top of the Premier League table after securing a narrow 1-0 victory over Liverpool at Anfield on Sunday evening.
The Gunners went into the encounter knowing that Manchester City had dropped points at home the previous day, giving them an opportunity to extend their lead.
City suffered a 1-0 defeat against Brighton, marking their second consecutive loss in the league.
Arsenal took advantage of City’s setback, with Kai Havertz scoring the only goal of the match in the first half.
The goal came after Declan Rice delivered a low cross into the Liverpool penalty area, which Havertz converted to put the visitors ahead.
Liverpool pushed for an equaliser, but Mikel Arteta’s side defended their advantage and held on to secure a clean sheet and all three points.
